Box frame
Each frame is a unique product
Box frame
A box frame is a frame in which the photo is mounted on dibond or a photo panel (such as Diasec®), with a space between the frame and the work of art.
You can determine the spacing yourself. It usually varies between half a centimeter and a whole centimetre all round.
Our Wilcoak frames are produced in such a way that the frame can be reused for another (new) work.
The frames are produced according to traditional methods and subsequently spray-painted in color in our own spray cabin.
If it is technically feasible, everything is possible!

- how deep do you want the artwork under the suface of the frame
What is the difference in types of wood?
– – – – –
Oak
Oak has a yellowish brown to dark brown colour.
Structure depends on the growth condition.
– – – – –
European walnut
European walnut is light greyish brown to warm
dark brown, possibly with attractive blackish markings.
Walnut is characterised by sapwood, these are the
lighter parts of the wood. When varnished white, this can stand out against the darker shade of walnut, which is why we try to avoid this sapwood in light finishes.
A substitute wood type for walnut is Mansonia.
Mansonia is a little straighter in structure and lighter in colour and a little fainter.
The main difference is the grain, which is fine and even in Mansonia and clearly lacks the typical wild growth characteristics of walnut.
– – – – –
Ash
The colour of ash varies from white to yellowish or
light yellow-brown. When Ash is exposed to light, its colour
white ash becomes more yellow in time. The grain is
coarse and sometimes slightly wavy.
– – – – –
Maple
Has a white to creamy colour
which turns slightly more yellow by daylight. The wood has an
even structure. The grain is fine and sometimes has a
regular wavy grain.
– – – – –
Yellow Poplar
Yellow poplar is originally a yellow-green to
brown-green wood. It is a fast growing
tree. The wood is soft and moderately firm. The grain is
fine and even in structure.

Ayous
Ayous is whitish to creamy yellow. By exposure
to light, the wood quickly fades. This wood is easy to
work, but you should not make any demands in terms of durability
or strength. That is why we do not use this type of wood at Wilcovak.
Many factory/profile frames have the basis of ayous.
