Harry Cock

…from Assen made landscapes and urban photography in the North after his education at the School of Photography in The Hague. In addition, Harry makes portraits and architectural photos in a distinctive style. That makes Harry an artist in addition to a journalistic photographer.

As a result, he earned the Great Cultural Prize Drenthe 2018. The prestigious oeuvre prize is a recognition for his total oeuvre of tens of thousands of photos over a period of forty years of photos in the Northern Netherlands. Never before has the prize been awarded to a photographer.

His “Neopolas” start with a photo: either from the archive or taken on site. Association with found materials or other photos where I cut out parts yield the following layers. Here again everyday images with other materials that are available such as shards, household waste, hair from the shower drain and other sources.
